Luxury homes are a segment that has weathered the blows of the pandemic well. Sicily, in particular, remains an attractive destination with beautiful luxury real estate.
Taormina is one of the cities of the Ionian coast of Sicily, which most of all retains the charm of the times and attracts with many beaches, clean sea, historical and archaeological treasures. This applies to all areas surrounding Etna, especially in demand for a wealth of food and wine, natural beauty and the opportunity to practice winter sports, trekking and hiking to the top of the volcano.
The average real estate price in Taormina is over 4,000 euros per square meter, while in the areas surrounding Etna, the price is around 1,400 euros per square meter. Both Italians and foreign clients looking for a second home in which to spend the summer away from the city are trying to buy luxury real estate in this area of the Ionian Coast.
In Mondello, prices range up to 2,500 euros per square meter. The most sought after are penthouses with open spaces and historic mansions.
The real estate value market in Palermo weathered the post-pandemic crisis well. The most sought after areas are by far the historic center and some places outside the city that provide privacy and basic services. The most exclusive properties cost around 2,600 euros per square meter.
In Messina, property prices fluctuate between 1,500 and 4,500 euros per square meter.
Among the most attractive areas near Syracuse are Noto, Lido di Noto, Portopalo and Pacino, the countryside around Noto, Fontane Bianche, Plemmirio and Ortigia. The average selling price of the most exclusive properties is around 3,000 euros per square meter.
Another area in particular in demand is the Catania region and the seaside resorts up to Aci Castello, Capomulini and Acireale. In terms of prices, a distinction has to be made between newly built buildings, therefore seismic and energy efficient, and buildings that need to be rehabilitated. Prices for the first type of real estate range from 2,500 to 3,000 euros per square meter. Almost 4000 euros in the historic center. Those to be restored have a cost that is around 1,200 euros per square meter, but the price may vary depending on the location.
