Property for sale: houses, villas, apartments in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna region

The province of Ferrara is located near the Adriatic Sea in northeastern Italy.

The terrain is mostly represented by plains through which the Po River and its many tributaries, such as Reno and Panaro, flow. The Ferrara area is also dotted with various canals for irrigating the soil. Swampy areas are also abundant. The land in the province is extremely fertile.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the fertile land of Ferrara cultivated mainly wheat, rice and, of course, grapes. Sericulture, fishing, livestock raising and the salt industry are also well developed in the region.

In Ferrara, you should definitely visit the castle d'Este Palazzo Municipal, which was erected in the north of the city of Ferrara near the cathedral. The d'Este family lived in the castle until the beginning of the 16th century, when they decided to move to nearby Castello Estense.

You can also see the tower of Torre dei Leoni, which in the thirteenth century was part of the city's armed fortifications.

Another prominent landmark in the province is the Ferrara Cathedral, which was erected in the twelfth century and has a delightful marble façade. The cathedral was designed in Romanesque and Gothic style. The central detail of the facade is the portico with the statue of the Madonna.
